Main: (Nepticulidae / Nepticulinae)
04.072 [B&F: 0019] Bohemannia quadrimaculella (Boheman, [1853])

Notes: Local, in freshwater margins, throughout England and Wales; rare in Ireland. Extremely rare in Hampshire and not recorded on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 7.4-8.8mm. Superficially resembles a number of other Nepticulidae, but combination of orange head, dark copper-coloured collar, white-tipped, fuscous antennae, pale yellow eyecaps, and shining coppery purple forewing with yellowish spots on costa and dorsum beyond middle, is diagnostic (MBGBI Vol 1). Day-flying. Larva mines buds of Alder.
