Rare (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) on downland and calcareous grassland throughout much of south-central England, northern England, Scotland and western Ireland. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight recorded very sparingly, less than annually and only once this century. Wingspan 4.5-7 mm. Larva mines leaves of Bird's-foot Trefoil, over-wintering as a pupa.
