Notes:
Common throughout much of the British Isles. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight mines are common on hawthorn in all three vice-counties. Wingspan 3.6-4.5 mm. Adults difficult to distinguish from other Stigmella species, and more frequently recorded in the larval stage, when mines are relatively easy to find where they are present. Larva mines leaves of Hawthorn, over-wintering as a pupa. The mines are described in the following link: leafmines.co.uk .
