Notes: Rare (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) in woodland in England and Wales, with records north to Yorkshire, a priority species under the UK Biodiversity Action Plan. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight reported in the past from the New Forest, Southampton and Botley, but recent records only from Roydon Woods HWT reserve in 1998 and Brighstone Forest on the Isle of Wight in 1978. Wingspan 14-17 mm. Larva feeds within fruit of Red Currant, Black Currant and Gooseberry, causing sufficient damage to be a serious pest in some areas.
