12.0251 [B&F: 0235] Trichophaga mormopis Meyrick, 1935

 

Notes: Recorded for the first time in a cargo of feathers from Formosa, since when a series of 11 specimens has been found in the BMNH labelled 'I. of Wight, Sept. 1930, ex L. on fur'. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 18-20 mm. This species is smaller than Tapestry Moth T. tapetzella and the outer margin of the dark part of the forewing is transverse, not oblique (MBGBI Vol 2). Larva feeds on fur and feathers.
