Notes: Local in open woodland, heathland, moorland and bogs throughout much of the British Isles. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight there are very few records of this species and, although it has been reported in the past from all three vice-counties, it is seen in any number only in Botley Wood. Wingspan 8-9 mm. Larva mines leaves of Birch, Hazel and Sweet Chestnut, over-wintering as a pupa.
