Main: (Gracillariidae / Lithocolletinae)
15.063 [B&F: 0341] Phyllonorycter maestingella (Müller, 1764)

Notes: Common in deciduous woodland throughout the British Isles. Widespread and common in Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight, wherever there is Beech. Wingspan 7.5-9 mm. More frequently recorded in the larval stage, when the mines are often easy to find in suitable habitat; the imago can be separated from other similar Phyllonorycter species only by dissection of the genitalia. Larva mines leaves of Beech, over-wintering as a pupa in a cocoon.
