Nationally scarce (Na) in open woodland in England, South Wales and Scotland, but not recorded from the extreme north of Scotland, the Outer Hebrides, Orkney or Shetland (MBGBI Vol 3). In Hampshire first recorded at Emery Down on 19 June 1971, with four subsequent unconfirmed records, at Basingstoke in 1999 and Micheldever Wood in 2003, followed by two from the Pamber area in 2012 & 2013: the author would consider all records to be unreliable based on no specimen being taken and/or genitalia dissected, and no records will be accepted without such evidence. Wingspan 14-15 mm. Larva feeds on Rowan and Hawthorn, beneath a silken web, often several together.
