Common in hedgerows and scrub throughout much of the British Isles, as far north as the central lowlands of Scotland, where it is local and scarce (MBGBI Vol 3). In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight the majority of the records are from the extreme south-east of the county, and perhaps under-recorded elsewhere, although largely absent from the New Forest. Wingspan 10-13 mm. Larva mines leaves of Blackthorn, subsequently living within a silken web, often several together.
