Notes: Common in rough grassland, downland and heathland throughout much of the British Isles. In Hampshire common in the south, and on the heaths in the north-east of the county, with scattered records elsewhere; no recent records from the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 12-15.5 mm. Imago is one of the more easily recognisable species, and well-marked specimens may safely be identified without recourse to dissection. Larva feeds within seedpods of Gorse, living within a movable case.
