Notes: Local on bogs and acid heaths throughout the British Isles. In Hampshire found mainly in boggy areas of the New Forest, where occasionally abundant and probably under-recorded, and on the heaths of north-east Hampshire; Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 9-10 mm. A small, nondescript moth, the main feature is an elongate dark brown spot on fold just before one-half, often entirely on a white ground colour (MBGBI Vol 3). Larva mines leaves of Deergrass, Slender Tufted-sedge, Greater Pond-sedge and Common Spike-rush.
