Nationally scarce (Na) on grassland and waste ground in the west and north Midlands, northern England and North Wales, with scattered records from south-eastern England, Norfolk and Lincolnshire; local in south-eastern Scotland, reappearing in Barra in the Outer Hebrides, Wester Ross and west Sutherland, with a single specimen from Shetland (MBGBI Vol 4 part 1). Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 20-23 mm. Larva feeds within stems and roots of Mugwort.
