Main: (Gelechiidae / Gelechiinae)
35.155 [B&F: 0766] Altenia scriptella (Hübner, 1796)

Notes: Nationally scarce (Na) in hedgerows in south-east England, north to Cumbria. In Hampshire known only from a handful of sites in the south-east of the county. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 12-13 mm. One of several confusingly similar gelechiids which, given its rarity, should be confirmed away from established sites by dissection of the genitalia. Larva feeds on Field Maple, living within a spun or rolled leaf, and over-wintering as a pupa.
