Notes: Nationally scarce (Nb) on sandy beaches and sand-dunes, also inland in dry sandy areas, throughout much of England, northern Wales, eastern Scotland and southern Ireland. In Hampshire there are old records from Hayling Island, and also two inland records, from north Hampshire, far from its typical habitat, and there is one recent record from Browndown in 2003. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 13-16 mm. Larva feeds on various mosses.
