Vulnerable (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) in woodland and parks. In recent years recorded regularly only near Bexley, west Kent, but, in the past, its distribution extended north to Nottinghamshire and west to Somerset (MBGBI Vol 4 part 2). In Hampshire one specimen taken at light in 1969 beside the R. Itchen near Martyr Worthy by the late D.W.H. ffennell remains the only record for the county. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 17-20 mm. Larva feeds on Black Poplar and Lombardy Poplar, living within a spun or rolled leaf.
