Endangered (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) on open limestone slopes in Lancashire, Yorkshire and Cumbria. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 13-16 mm. Very similar to S. fuscoaenea from which separable only with great care. Flies in afternoon sunshine. Larva feeds on Common Rock-rose, living within a silken tube or tent.
