Nationally scarce (Nb) in dry, calcareous grassland in parts of southern England, southern Wales and on the Burren in Ireland. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight individuals occasionally turn up, mainly on calcareous soils. Wingspan 11-16 mm. The contrasting bright rose-pink and cream-white forewing coloration is characteristic; differs from C. roseana by the lighter median fascia of the forewing and the absence of a subapical line in the cilia [Bradley]. Larva feeds within seedheads of Field Scabious, over-wintering in a cocoon.
