Main: (Tortricidae / Olethreutinae)
49.228 [B&F: 1153] Epinotia sordidana (Hübner, [1824])

Notes: Nationally scarce (Nb) in marshes, on river-banks and ditches in parts of Britain. In Hampshire the only recent records are from Botley Wood, Fareham, Southwick and Funtley. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight since 1951. Wingspan 18-24 mm. Similar to the obscurely marked forms of E. caprana but distinguished by the darker hindwing which is almost uniform ochreous-grey and not whitish grey and infuscate apically [Bradley]. Larva feeds on Alder, living within a spun or rolled leaf.
