Notes: Local on moorland, fens, damp heathland and mosses throughout much of the British Isles. In Hampshire formerly widespread in the New Forest, but nowadays generally rather uncommon and recorded regularly only at Titchfield Haven, with other records from Southsea, Botley Wood, Chandlers Ford and Wickham Common; in north Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight, just one recent record, at Eelmoor Marsh and Totland, respectively. Wingspan 15-22 mm. Distinguished from E. sordidana and related species by its whitish grey hindwing [Bradley]. Larva feeds on Willow and Bog-myrtle, living within a spun or rolled leaf.
