Main: (Crambidae / Crambinae)
63.104 [B&F: 1318] Catoptria lythargyrella (Hübner, 1796)

Notes: Very rare immigrant (less than 10 previous UK records) from central Europe. Recorded only in 1889 when five were captured at Deal in Kent. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 24-34 mm. Could be mistaken for A. selasella and A. tristella, but has a completely unmarked, ochreous forewing, or one of the darker forms of C. perlella, but is larger and less glossy [Goater]. Voucher specimen should be retained for confirmation of identification. Larva feeds on various grasses, living within a silken tube or tent.
