Main: (Crambidae / Crambinae)
63.107 [B&F: 1321] Thisanotia chrysonuchella (Scopoli, 1763)

Notes: Nationally scarce (Nb) in dry sandy areas, calcareous grassland, sand-dunes and sea cliffs in parts of southern England and Breckland. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight there are recent records only from Arreton Down HWT reserve on the Island, formerly more widespread. Wingspan 23-26 mm. An unmistakable species: the Chrysocrambus species have wings of similar shape but with fine dark longitudinal striae and sharply defined, narrow median and subterminal cross-lines [Goater]. Larva feeds on stems of Sheep's-fescue and various grasses, living within a silken tube or tent.
