Notes: Local in hedgerows and scrub throughout England and Wales, more numerous in the south. Fairly widespread in southern Hampshire, but remaining distinctly scarce in northern Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 18-23 mm. Has shorter, blunter forewing than other British Trachycera, and costa is straighter [Goater]. Larva feeds on Blackthorn and Hawthorn, living within a silken tube or tent.
