Endangered (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) on chalk downland in southern England and on the Burren. There are no confirmed records from Hampshire or the Isle of Wight in recent years. Wingspan 23-27 mm. Tends to be larger than P. dilutella, less red; the ochreous streak dorsal to cell appears to be a good separation character as does the straighter, more oblique second line [Goater]. Larva feeds on Wild Thyme.
