Notes: Common in woodland and hedgerows throughout much of southern England. in Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight, widespread throughout, although seldom more than a few individuals are recorded from any locality. Wingspan 23-28 mm. The irregular transverse banding of ochreous and black on forewing makes this an easy species to identify [Goater]. Larva feeds within bark of Ash, eventually killing the tree if present in sufficient numbers.
