Notes: A rare Red Data Book species, in forests and large woods; 100-250 m (50-1500 m in Europe) in parts of southern England; northern and central Europe. In Hampshire reliably found in large woods such as Alice Holt and Bentley Wood. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 62-74 mm. Larva feeds on Goat Willow and Grey Willow.
