Appendix A: (Nymphalidae / Satyrinae)
59.0133 [B&F: 1623] Hermit (Chazara briseis) (Linnaeus, 1764)

Notes: Local in dry grassland, rocky areas and scrub; 0-1600 m throughout much of southern Europe. In Britain, one was found in a collection, supposedly reared from a larva, but the details are unconvincing. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 42-68 mm. Larva feeds on Upright Brome, Sheep's-fescue and Blue Moor-grass.
