Main: (Lasiocampidae / Pinarinae)
66.009 [B&F: 1639] Pine-tree Lappet (Dendrolimus pini) (Linnaeus, 1758)

Notes: Local in pine woodland in Inverness-shire. Apart from a single record from Norwich in 1809, known until recently in Britain only as a very rare immigrant from mainland Europe, with singletons on the Isle of Wight in 1996 and 2010, one in Cornwall in 2003 and one in Kent in 2004. However, in 2007/8, a small resident population was discovered in an area of ancient pine woodland in Inverness-shire. Not recorded from Hampshire to date. Wingspan 60-92 mm. Unmistakable. Larva feeds on Scots Pine and Norway Spruce.
