Nationally scarce (Nb) on downland, embankments, scrub and sea cliffs in parts of southern England. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight had already become rare by the 1960's (Goater, 1974), still widely distributed, but now found most frequently in hedgerows on the chalk. Wingspan 26-31 mm. Unmistakable when fresh. Larva feeds on Lady's Bedstraw and Hedge Bedstraw, over-wintering as a pupa.
