Very rare immigrant (less than 10 previous UK records) from mainland Europe, appearing in southern England. Formerly bred in several fens in Cambridgeshire, but not since 1879. From 2000 onwards, has increasingly been seen as an immigrant from mainland Europe, with an unprecedented 23 reported in 2006. It is hoped that this increase may result in the recolonisation of the species into Britain during that year. In Hampshire three were recorded as part of the influx of the species into Britain, all close to the coast in the south of the county. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 25-27 mm. Similar to Oblique Striped Phibalapteryx virgata, in which both median fascia are complete, and Oblique Carpet Orthonama vittata, in which the streak from apex of forewing reaches to about half-way along termen. Larva feeds on Bedstraw.
