In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight well distributed on the chalk, more thinly in the north-east and New Forest. Wingspan 12-14 mm. Plain appearance, small size and lack of discal spot distinguishes adult from all but Lead-coloured Pug E. plumbeolata from which separated by ochreous base of the abdomen.
