A native of North America, recorded once in Britain on Skokholm Island, Pembrokeshire at the end of July 1948 and likely to have been ship-assisted, although the possibility of it being a genuine migrant cannot be ruled out; there have been no further records to date. Wingspan 46-50 mm. Not unlike Crimson Speckled U. pulchella but with pink instead of white hindwings.
