Occurrence in the British Isles unconfirmed, this southern European species is included on the British list on the basis of a single example, reportedly captured near Worthing, Sussex, which was exhibited at a meeting of the Entomological Society in 1867. Wingspan 22-25 mm. Fairly unmistakable, but voucher specimen should be retained for confirmation of identification. Larva feeds on various lichens and decaying vegetable matter, no evidence of breeding in the UK.
