Notes: Local in broad-leaved woodland and parks throughout much of England and Wales. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight occurs at low density, often seen in spring after emerging from hibernation, either at light or sallow bloom. Wingspan 40-46 mm. The main confusion species is Tawny Pinion L. semibrunnea, but paler and without heavy apical streaking. Larva feeds on various trees and shrubs, including Oak, Sallow, Birch, Apple, Horse-chestnut, Bramble and White Poplar.
