Notes:
Local in bogs, moorland, fens and marshes throughout much of northern England and Scotland, with scattered populations in the Midlands, Exmoor, Dartmoor, Hampshire and East Anglia, a species of conservation concern under the UK Biodiversity Action Plan. In Hampshire frequent in the Itchen valley above Winchester, straying into the south of the county, and occasionally recorded in the Test valley north of Stockbridge. There is one old record for the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 25-30 mm. Larva feeds on Cotton-sedge, over-wintering as an egg. The larval foodplant in Hampshire is unknown.
