73.097 [B&F: 2382] Rustic (Hoplodrina blanda) ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Notes: Common in a wide range of habitats, mainly in low-lying areas, including woodland, rough meadows and gardens throughout the British Isles, a species of conservation concern under the UK Biodiversity Action Plan. Common and well distributed in Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 31-33 mm. Easily and frequently confused with Uncertain H. alsines, but generally H. blanda has straighter costa, less rounded dorsum, smoother, more grey-brown forewing, stigmata less contrasting with remainder of forewing and slightly smaller, and less conspicuous cross-lines (MBGBI Vol 10). Larva feeds on various herbaceous plants, including Chickweed, Dock and Plantain.
