Doubtfully British. A resident of southern Europe. Two specimens exist, reputedly taken at Start Point, Devon dated 23 June 1937 but considerable doubt exists as to the accuracy of the labelling. Wingspan 37-40 mm. The most likely confusion species is Burnet Companion Euclidia glyphica, which is smaller, with forewing dark brown and hindwing with strong black basal suffusion (MBGBI Vol 10). Larva feeds on Pitch Trefoil, which does not occur in Britain.
