Notes: Rare immigrant from southern Europe, appearing in southern England on approximately 15 occasions in the 19th Century, but none for over 100 years. Between 1994 and 2004 there have been six further records: at Dymchurch, Kent on 5 August 1994; West Bexington, Dorset on 5 August 1994; St Agnes on 10 August 1995; West Bexington, Dorset on 18 August 1996; Ringwood, Hampshire on 19 August 1996; and Sherborne St. John, Hampshire on 13 August 2004. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 30-32 mm. Fairly unmistakable. Larva feeds on Ground-ivy, Field Bindweed, Common Mallow, Dwarf Mallow and Marsh-mallow, no evidence of breeding in the UK.
