Main: (Noctuidae / Plusiinae)
73.020 [B&F: 2448] Essex Y (Cornutiplusia circumflexa) (Linnaeus, 1767)

Notes: Very rare immigrant (less than 10 previous UK records) from North Africa or the Canary Islands, appearing in southern England once. The only fully authenticated British record is of one from Sway, Hampshire on 29 Jul 1979. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 34-50 mm. It is unlikely that records of this species will be accepted unless the specimen is retained for examination. Larva polyphagous on various crops, no evidence of breeding in the UK.
