Formerly thought to be extinct in Britain, this species is now known from a few recent records in south-eastern England. There are very few old records, and the last entry in MBGBI Vol. 2 was in 1979 (MBGBI). Now known from Essex (2006 and 2019) and Buckinghamshire (2005 - 2013) (source: mothdissection.co.uk), and new to Norfolk in 2020, with one attracted to the HYL lure used for Raspberry Clearwing. In Hampshire Goater (1974) listed one previous record, at Liss in 1897. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 12-14 mm. Similar to Dichomeris alacella, but with yellow/orange head tuft.
