Nationally scarce, in hedgerows, open woodland and gardens, in Devon and Cornwall, and also Dorset, Somerset, Hampshire and Glamorgan; unknown in the British Isles until 1963 when one was taken at light at Ide, near Exeter, Devon (MBGBI Vol 4 part 2). In Hampshire, recorded for the first time at Winchester on 14 July 1987; subsequently the 21st century has produced a scattering of records across the county. The first record for the Isle of Wight was in 2019. Wingspan 10-14mm. Larva feeds within buds and young shoots of Bramble and Raspberry.
