Nationally scarce (Na) in woodland and river-banks in parts of southern England, with records north to Yorkshire and west to Somerset, Worcestershire and Cornwall (MBGBI Vol 4 part 2). In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight there are a few records from the south of the county and on the Island, mostly of larvae found on Populus spp., but rare in the north of Hampshire, where 2023 saw the first record since 1969. Wingspan 13-18 mm. Larva feeds on Aspen, White Poplar and Grey Poplar.
