Local on chalk downland and limestone pavements in England and Wales, and on acid soils in Scotland as far north as Banffshire. In Hampshire mainly confined to the band of calcareous soils from Porton Down in the west to Petersfield in the east. On the Isle of Wight, widely distributed on the chalk but not particularly common. Wingspan 11-14 mm. Larva feeds on Common Rock-rose and Hoary Rock-rose, living between leaves spun together with silk.
