Local on woodland edges and rides, roadside verges and waste ground throughout much of the British Isles, except for the Outer Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland. In Hampshire there are recent records only from Morgaston Wood, Roydon Woods HWT reserve, and West Park; on the Isle of Wight, recorded only once, at Luccombe Farm in July 1999. Wingspan 10-11 mm. The yellowish head-colour is usually diagnostic but in faded specimens the ochreous tinge to the white wing markings will help (MBGBI Vol 3). Larva mines leaves of Cock's-foot and False-brome.
