Very rare immigrant (less than 10 previous UK records) from southern Europe, appearing in southern Britain five times: at Tregaron, Cardiganshire on 28 July 1982; Denny Lodge, New Forest, Hampshire on 31 July 1982; Buckingham Palace on 4 September 2002; Holcombe, Devon on 26 August 2005; and Carshalton, Surrey on 15 July 2007. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 39-46 mm. Larva feeds on Oak, no evidence of breeding in the UK.
