Nationally scarce (Na) in saltmarshes and damp heathland throughout southern England and southern Wales. In Hampshire mainly confined to the New Forest, and extremely scarce elsewhere in the county and on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan male 15-20 mm, female 17-22 mm. This species is readily recognised by its long, porrect labial palpi [Bradley]. Larva feeds on various herbaceous plants.
