Recorded infrequently through accidental importation in pine cones from North America. In December 1992, two live adults were found in a house in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, one of which was identified at The British Museum (Natural History) as an example of this North American species. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 13-17 mm. Larva feeds within cones of Jeffrey Pine; no evidence of breeding in the UK.
