Hantsmoths

Found widely but with a scattered distribution across Europe, through Scandinavia to Russia and further east. It feeds in a case on Crown Vetch Securigera varia, which is very rare in the British Isles. Quite distinctive compared to resident British species, being orange-cream in colour with a white costa to the forewing and two white veins running along the wing. Acceptance of any records will however require dissection. Forewing: 6.5 to 8mm. The first record in Britain was a specimen from Hollesley, East Suffolk on 11th June 2023 (Ent Rec J Var, 135: 185-189), almost certainly a primary migrant.
